Donald "Burch" L. Burchfield, a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away on March 13, 2025, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North. Born on May 12, 1937, in Steubenville, Ohio, Donald was a proud graduate of Steubenville High School, class of 1955. Shortly after graduating, he dedicated four years to serving in the Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Sergeant, which solidified his commitment to duty and service.

After his military service, Donald embarked on a long and fulfilling career with the postal service, where he worked as a letter carrier for 38 years. He also served as a contracted cleaner at the Mingo Junction Post Office for 25 years, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community alike. Throughout his professional life, Donald was known not only for his hard work but also for his unwavering kindness and approachability.

Donald's personality shone through in both his work and his leisure. He was a man of simple pleasures, with a profound love for the Pittsburgh Steelers. His favorite saying, "Tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift," reflects his optimistic outlook on life and his appreciation for each moment.

He leaves behind his three children: Donna Burchfield of Steubenville, Curtis (Barb) Burchfield of Steubenville, and Patricia Gonzales of Utah. Donald was also a cherished grandfather to seven grandchildren, a great grandfather to ten great grandchildren, and a great great grandfather to one great great grandchild. He is survived by his sister, Delores (Bill) Thompson of Fairfield, Ohio, and his two brothers, Tommy Burchfield of Winterhaven, Florida, and Gary Burchfield of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.

In mourning his passing, we remember the love and joy he brought to those around him. Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cruz (Herrera) Burchfield, and his brother Ronald Burchfield, both of whom he cherished dearly.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled for March 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with services at 5 pm  at Schuetz Funeral Home, located at 235 Clifton Ave., Mingo Junction, Ohio.

Donald "Burch" L. Burchfield will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his commitment to his profession, and his cherished moments spent with loved ones. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
