Family and friends deeply mourn the loss of Elizabeth "Betty" Frances Looman (Takach), who passed suddenly on January 24, 2017. She was 76 years old.
Betty was a native of Mingo Junction, Ohio born on December 13, 1940. A devout Catholic, she was a long time and active parishioner of Saint Agnes Catholic Church of Mingo Junction. Betty serviced as a Eucharistic Minister and generously volunteered her time to the church.
After graduating in the "Top Ten" of her class from Mingo High School in 1958, she married her loving husband, Chuck Looman, Sr. in 1960. Together they raised their four children in New Alexandria. She was strong, committed and loving mother.
Betty will be most remembered as faithful Catholic, a loving wife and mother who, together with her husband, taught her children deep moral values, family love and an exceptionally strong work ethic. She demonstrated this on a daily basis working tirelessly on the family farm alongside her husband and children. She enjoyed farming and caring for their horses, cows, dogs and cats. Betty was well known for her love of animals and rescued countless pets throughout her life, providing them with love and very comfortable home.
Preparing for and celebrating the holidays with family and friends was one of her favorite things to do. Her grandchildren loved her deeply and enjoyed their special times "playing with Grandma". Betty also truly found joy in delighting others with her exceptional cooking and baking skills. She was known for her delicious homemade fruit pies, using homegrown raspberries, apples, peaches etc.
Mrs. Looman is predeceased by her husband, chuck Looman, Sr., her parents, Francis Takach and Mary Ann (Petrella) Takach, her brother -in-law Kenneth "Butch" Looman and sister -in-law Clara "Sis" Hooper, brother-in-law Ted Hooper, granddaughter Amanda Looman and niece Susan Looman. She is survived and deeply missed by her daughter Darcy Garza and husband Don Garza of Garden Grove, CA, her son Joseph Charles Looman, Jr. and wife Natalie Marchetta-Looman of Manasquan, NJ, son Robert Looman and wife Betsy Looman of Bloomingdale, OH, and son William Looman and wife Sherry Looman of Cuyhoga Falls, OH, as well as her loving grandchildren, Alessandra, Juliana, and Joseph C.
