George Kovach

George Alan Kovach, 64, passed away on July 15, 2024, at West Penn Hospital Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born on May 6, 1960, in Steubenville, Ohio, to the late George E. and Rebecca L. (Devore) Kovach, George was a proud graduate of Buckeye North High School, class of 1979. He furthered his education at the Clark, Gilbert, and Silverthorn School of Cosmetology, which paved the way for his long and fulfilling career as a cosmetologist in Columbus and Ohio Valley.

George was a man of many passions. He cherished the Christmas season and held a deep-rooted love for crafting, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His greatest joy, however, was his grandchildren, with whom he shared endless love and laughter.

He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores "Korky" (Dowell) Kovach, and his sister-in-law, Brenda "sis" Hickey. George's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving partner whom he shared his life with for 31 years Steven Girga, one daughter Rebekah M.L. (Daniel Dingey) Kovach of Mingo Jct., three grandchildren Kaiden, Dominic, and Aryabellah Dingey, three siblings Karyn Kovach of Weirton, Melissa (Michael) Grubb of Brilliant, John (Donna) Kovach of Brilliant, niece Mikah (Jimmy) Ramsey, great niece Lainey Ramsey, many fur babies.

Schuetz Funeral Home in Mingo Junction, Ohio, is assisting the family during this time. George's life and legacy will be honored in a manner befitting his joyful and loving spirit.
