John Wesley Hickman

John Wesley Hickman, 74, of Rayland Ohio passed away on October 24, 2024 at home. He was born July 4th, 1950 in Clarksburg WV to the late Alva "Fred" and Virginia (Jacobs) Hickman. John was preceded in death by his wife Debra (Martin) Hickman (2011), his son John Steven Hickman (1974), a brother Alva Hickman Jr (1948), a sister Joyce Hickman Cutri (2022) and a dear friend Scott Darrah (2020) .

 John is survived by his daughters Jennifer (Jerry) Hilderbrand of Brilliant OH and Dyane Hickman of Akron OH, a son Robert Smith of Struthers OH. His grandchildren: Shanley (Nick) Hale, Nattaley (Kris) Hickman, Daniel (Amber) Shute, Kelsey Hilderbrand, and Blayke (Paula) Mason. John was the happiest when he was around his great-grandchildren Jaxson, Rylee, and Chase Stuewe, Emberly Hilderbrand, and Karter Hickman. John is survived by his siblings: Robert (Cheryl) of Garrett IN, Mary (Cathy) Hickman of Butler IN, Fred (Butch) (Jackie) of Auburn IN, Lois (Jim) Stephen of Wintersville OH, Steven of Rayland OH, Charles Todd of Garrett IN, Paula (Donald) Castner of Steubenville OH, and Sandra (John) Thwaites of Garrett IN. 

John was a proud member of the United States Air Force. His commitment to his country was paralleled only by his love for his family. His service in the Air Force was a significant part of his identity, reflecting his deep-seated values of loyalty and dedication. John's life, marked by his service and love for his family, leaves a lasting imprint on those who had the the privilege of knowing him. John's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared by his family and friends. 

Viewing will be on Sunday October 27, at the Schuetz Funeral Home 235 Clifton Ave Mingo Jct., OH  from 4 pm to 8 pm with services at 5 pm with his sister Paula Hickman-Castner officiating. Full Military Honors will be carried out as well.
