Marion R. Finney, 98, born May 7th, 1925 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, daughter of the late Marion and Harry P. Coleman, Sr. Retired Public Relations Director, East Ohio Regional Hospital. Past President of the Hospital Auxiliary, Past President of the Linden Twig. A charter member of the Ohio Society for Hospital Public Relations and a past member of the American Society of Hospital Public Relations.
A member, Elder and former Treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry, where she also served on the Board of Trustees and the Board of Session.
A member of the Board of Directors, Belmont Metropolitan Housing Authority. A member and past President of the Wayne L. Hayes Tower Club. Past President of the former Coffee and Donuts Bowling League.
She was preceded in death by sisters Betty Reasbeck and Marjorie Williams, a brother, Harry P. Coleman, Jr., a grandson, Nathan Finney, a niece Marian Skorich, a nephew. Robert Reasbeck. She is survived by a son, R. Bruce Finney, (Deborah) of Dillonvale, Oh, a daughter Leigh Ann (David) Sabo of Rayland, Oh. A daughter Melissa Finney of St. Clairsville, Oh.
Mrs. Finney was a graduate of Duquense High School, Duquense, PA and furthered her education by attending the College of Commerce, Wheeling, W. Va and through special classes at Ohio University Eastern.
She began her advertising career at the Wheeling News Register. She joined The Hub Department Store as Assistant Personnel Director and Assistant Advertising Director. She was an account executive with Gutman Advertising of Wheeling, W. Va. In 1974 she began working at Martins Ferry Hospital as Personnel Director, and was named Public Relations Director in 1977. In 1986, she was honored by the Ohio Society for Public Relations for her role in the opening of the new East Ohio Regional Hospital. She retired from the hospital in December 1986
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Martins Ferry Public Library.
A memorial service, followed by luncheon, will be held at the , First Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry, on Saturday, May 18th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
