Sonja Karen (Greene) Robson

Sonja Karen Robson (Greene) passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, surrounded by her children. She was the wife of James Thomas Robson who passed away in 2021.

Born in Detroit, Michigan on August 18, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Minnie (Hughes) Greene and Thomas Greene. Sonja grew up in Jacksonville, Florida with her twin sister Pamela and her younger sister Linda. Sonja joined the US Marine Corps at age 17 where she and her sister were stationed at camp Lejeune North Carolina. Sonja and her identical twin sister Pamela were the first twin sisters in the Marine Corps and could have a book written about their adventures as Marines. They both went on to be glamorous flight attendants in the 60s. Sonja flew with Northwest Orient from 1965-1972 and traveled the world.

On March 24, 1968 she married the love of her life James Thomas Robson. Sonja’s joy in life were her two children and later her two grandchildren. Over the years she devoted her time and energy to raising her kids. She was a beloved school bus driver for 20 years, retiring only to be a caregiver to her two grand babies which she thrived at and loved. Everything Sonja did was with enthusiasm and happiness. She truly never met a stranger and loved meeting new people. She was a storyteller, an adventurer and so hilarious (mostly unintentionally).

Sonja and her family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1985, and were sealed in the temple April 12, 1986. Sonja was passionate about her Heavenly Father and had a gift for feeling the spirit and sharing that spirit and light with everyone around her.

Sonja is survived by her son James Thomas Robson, (Tom Jr.); daughter Angie Johnson and her husband, Nathaniel, and their children, Sebastian and Mable. She is also survived by her identical twin sister Pamela and her husband Harry Russell.
