Thomas A Winland Jr, of Steubenville, OH, passed away suddenly on January 6, 2019, at the age of 71. He was born on April 12, 1947, to Thomas A and Esther (Orison) Winland in Hendersonville, PA. Tommy spent more than 14 years working with the Ohio Ferro Alloys Corporation as a metal crusher and laborer. Affectionately known as “Weasel” to family and friends, Tommy enjoyed singing and maintaining his beloved support and devotion of Elvis Presley and those various legendary country drinking songs, such as “There’s A Tear In My Beer.” Tommy enjoyed lengthy walks anywhere and everywhere, working odd jobs as a general handyman, and being the happy-go-lucky, always smiling character his family and friends cherished.
Tommy is survived by his three children, Thomas A III of Dillonvale, OH; Bobby Winland and his wife Rochelle of Florence, South Carolina; and Tina Fankhauser and her husband Donald of Steubenville, OH. Tommy is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Makayla Tingler of Steubenville, OH; Bobby WInland Jr, Sebastian Winland, Dylan Winland, and Faith Winland of Florence, SC; Bruce Billingsley and girlfriend Ashley Strope of Tiltonsville, OH; Ryan Crawford, Corbin Crawford, and DJ Fankhauser of Steubenville, OH. Tommy also is survived by 2 great grandchildren, Zoey Billingsley and Noah Butler. Also surviving Tommy are his sister, Van “Sis” Dayton of Canton, OH; brother Steven Winland and wife Marjie Winland of Zanesville, OH; brother Raymond Winland of Zanesville, OH; sister-in-law Thelma Winland of Dillonvale, OH; and brother Roy Winland of Steubenville, OH; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, George, Peter, Walter, William and John. Memorial services and visitations will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Schuetz Funeral Home in Mingo Junction, OH from 1-5 with a dinner to be served immediately after. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Schuetz Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses.
